Bush: time to eliminate Arafat
Yahoo! | Submitted by: Katie
"President George W. Bush told an Israeli journalist that 'we must get rid of' Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, the mass-circulation Yediot Aharonot daily has reported. Bush's comments came in a brief exchange with the paper's correspondent during a Christmas drinks party in Washington... Israel's security cabinet approved Arafat's 'removal' in September, with one minister even suggesting that he could be assassinated, but Washington warned Israel not to attempt to expel him."

Saddam actually captured by the Kurds
Yahoo! | Submitted by: Katie
"Saddam Hussein was captured by US troops only after he had been taken prisoner by Kurdish forces, drugged and abandoned ready for American soldiers to recover him, a British Sunday newspaper said. Saddam came into the hands of the Kurdish Patriotic Front after being betrayed to the group by a member of the al-Jabour tribe, whose daughter had been raped by Saddam's son Uday, leading to a blood feud, reported the Sunday Express, which quoted an unnamed senior British military intelligence officer... 'Saddam was not captured as a result of any American or British intelligence. We knew that someone would eventually take their revenge, it was just a matter of time.'"

Animal shelter worker fired over zombie dog
Home News Tribune | Submitted by: Channing Derry
"William 'Billy' Paul was charged with torturing and tormenting an animal and inflicting cruelty on a living creature as well as two accompanying civil charges by the Middlesex County SPCA... The dog, a 5-year-old shepherd-Labrador mix whose plight has drawn national attention, survived not only the attempt to put it down but also passed uninjured through a trash compactor before being found Dec. 4 in back of a trash truck at Edgeboro Landfill. It apparently clawed through the plastic bag it had been placed in. Yesterday, the city announced it suspended Paul from his $39,293 job without pay pending the completion of an internal investigation by the Police Department, which oversees Paul and the city pound. But the city, in a statement from Mayor Joseph Vas' office, made it clear it is seeking Paul's termination."

Prison time for scat video producers
Adult Video News | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"On Friday a federal judge sentenced the people behind an adult Website that sold defecation and urination videos and DVDs to jail terms, ending one of the first federal obscenity cases involving the Internet. Michael J Corbett and his ex-wife Sharon Bates, who were married when running the site in question, had pled guilty to one count each of mailing obscene material in August. The Associated Press reports that U.S. District Judge David Faber on Friday sentenced Corbett to 18 months in prison, a $30,000 fine and three years of supervised release. Bates was sentenced to 13 months in prison, a $10,000 fine and three years of probation. The couple had run the Website GirlsPooping.com, where they sold titles such as Outdoor Pooping Paradise, which showed ten women defecating outdoors, and an enema tape called Simone's Daddy's Little Girl."

Emancipation Proclamation yet to reach Mississippi
ABC News | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"As Mae Miller tells it, she spent her youth in Mississippi as a slave, 'picking cotton, pulling corn, picking peas, picking butter beans, picking string beans, digging potatoes. Whatever it was, that's what you did for no money at all.' Miller and her sister Annie's tale of bondage ended in the '60s - not the 1860s, when slaves officially were freed after the Civil War, but the 1960s... 'They said, "You better not tell because we'll kill 'em, kill all of you, you niggers,"' Annie Miller said. 'Why would you want to tell anybody that you was raped over and all that kind of mess? You don't tell. Who would you want to tell? I don't want to tell you. I don't want to tell nobody.'"

Kenyan politicians arrested for solicitation
BBC | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"The Kenyan cabinet wants the media to produce a videotape which allegedly shows three MPs picking up prostitutes in a Nairobi red light district... Kenya's Daily Nation reported how a minister, an assistant minister and an MP were filmed in the police operation. But Kenyan police deny arresting any MPs during the crackdown, during which more than 100 women were charged... The Nation's editorial director, Wangethi Mwangi, said they did have a videotape, but that they could not produce the evidence as the matter is already in court."
