Atlanta Journal-Constitution | Submitted by: sTabby
"A judge has ruled that a Pakistani man convicted of attacking his 17-year-old fiancee with acid be blinded with acid himself, police said Friday. Mohammed Sajid, 19, poured acid on the face of his fiancee Rabia Bibi on June 24 in Bahawalpur, a city in the eastern Pakistani province of Punjab... The woman lost both eyes and her face was burned in the attack, which police said followed a minor dispute between the couple... Catholic diocese unaware of graveyard pederasty
Orange County Weekly | Submitted by: juanholmes
"Orange County GOP chairman Tom Fuentes maintains he was unaware that Diocese of Orange priests molested children during the years he served as the diocese's communications director, from 1976 to 1989. But church documents obtained by the Weekly reveal that Fuentes for five years supervised a priest caught in flagrante delicto with a 13-year-old boy in a Sacramento area graveyard... Father Jerome Henson was head pastor at St. John the Baptist Church in Costa Mesa until the Orange diocese placed him on inactive leave last year when church officials learned of a police report detailing his 1981 nighttime boneyard tryst... an officer found Henson with a 13-year-old boy 'wearing a tank-top and blue athletic-type shorts' leaning against a graveyard fence. '[The victim] had his back to the fence with his hands holding on to the top bar,' the report notes. '[The victim] was suspended in the air with both of his legs draped over Henson's shoulders.'"

Michael Jackson and his nephew's pubes
Star magazine | Submitted by: Soylent
"Seven years before the latest accusation of child molestation against Michael Jackson, a source tells Star the tarnished King of Pop orchestrated a disturbing photo session with his young nephew TJ. Star has seen outtakes of a 1996 L.A. studio photo shoot involving Jackson, then 37, and his nephews TJ, now 25, Taj, now 30, and Taryll, now 28 - the sons of Michael's brother Tito... the studio outtakes that Star saw raise serious questions about Michael's behavior that day. In a series of photos, Michael and TJ, who was 17 at the time of the shoot, stand tightly together as TJ progressively loses more and more of his clothing - to the point where he's wearing just a pair of socks and undershorts, which he proceeds to pull down, exposing his pubic hair. 'There was a stylist there, but the shoot was basically directed by Michael,' a source tells Star. 'At one point, he began ripping up TJ's shirt while he was still wearing it. The vibe was weird, but no one would say anything to Michael, that's for sure.'"

Newark News-Ledger | Submitted by: Jimbo
"An 11-year-old Woodbridge boy told a family court judge yesterday that he struck 3-year-old Amir Beeks with a baseball bat and dumped him in a creek after the toddler followed him home from a neighborhood library last spring. Pleading guilty to murder and kidnapping, Aaron Kean, who was 10 at the time of the crime in March, said Amir was bothering him and wanted to use his scooter... Amir never regained consciousness after he was beaten in Aaron's backyard playhouse on March 26 and left in a drainage ditch alongside the older boy's home in the Colonia section of Woodbridge. Police found Amir face-down in the shallow water with his pants down. Based on physical evidence, authorities initially charged Aaron with sexually assaulting Amir with an unidentified object. The child died the next day at JFK Medical Center in Edison."

Soldiers prescreened for Bush's Thanskgiving visit
Washington Post | Submitted by: le Poop Chute
"Stars and Stripes, the Pentagon-authorized newspaper of the U.S. military, ... reported that 'for security reasons, only those preselected got into the facility during Bush's visit... The soldiers who dined while the president visited were selected by their chain of command, and were notified a short time before the visit.' The paper also published a letter to the editor from Sgt. Loren Russell, who wrote of the heroism of his soldiers and then added: '[I]magine their dismay when they walked 15 minutes to the Bob Hope Dining Facility, only to find that they were turned away from their evening meal because they were in the wrong unit... They understand that President Bush ate there and that upgraded security was required. But why were only certain units turned away?'"

St. Petersburg Times | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"Edith Rapp says her stepson Bruce Rapp wrote in a 2002 Jews for Jesus newsletter that he watched while she tearfully and spontaneously converted to the movement at her husband's bedside. The suit was filed Thursday... The suit comes as the organization begins a two-week campaign in Palm Beach County seeking to inform Jews of its belief about the divinity of Jesus Christ."

Prison slated for religious conversion
Palm Beach Post | Submitted by: buffaloBill
"Hard time will soon be hallowed time for nearly 800 Florida inmates who will be given the option of repaying their debt to society in the nation's first prison dedicated entirely to faith-based rehabilitation programs. Gov. Jeb Bush made the surprise announcement Friday at a White House-sponsored news conference in Tampa that spotlighted President Bush's attempts to give religious organizations a greater role in solving social problems... Howard Simon of the American Civil Liberties Union said: 'I think the governor is just creating what will be an inevitable constitutional showdown about whether it is permissible to use state dollars and state facilities to promote religion. They are not appropriate programs to be sponsored by state government.'"

Arizona middle school joins the panopticon
Arizona Republic | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"A north-central Phoenix school is the first in the nation to install cameras designed to detect the faces of sex offenders or missing children and instantly alert police. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office used a grant to install equipment in the entrance and attendance office at Royal Palm Middle School... Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the cameras cost about $3,000 to $5,000 for a school to install and will not violate the privacy of anyone not already in the Arizona sex offender or in the national missing children databases, including possible abductors of missing children. If the camera registers a possible hit, the Sheriff's Office is quietly alerted and will send a deputy or police officer to investigate."

Mayor suspiciously arrested during police strike
Boston Globe | Submitted by: dianalily
"When the city and its police union squared off in contract negotiations this year, their differences escalated into an edgy labor skirmish... following a City Council meeting, when police arrested Mayor Normand Guay on drunk driving charges. But Guay passed a breath test with flying colors, and a 75-page report by [former US attorney Jay McCloskey] and a longtime federal drug agent indicated that the mayor might have been targeted because of the labor impasse. According to the report, which has not been made public, off-duty officers at the police station applauded his arrest... a breath test showed Guay's blood-alcohol level to be 0.01 percent, far below Maine's 0.08 percent standard for intoxication. Prosecutors later dropped the charge and said the mayor, who is a state probation official and former Auburn police officer, was not drunk."

And now the Jews hate CC
KXAS-TV 5 Dallas | Submitted by: f00f
"An ad for 'Party City' was supposed to highlight a sale on Hanukkah items, but it also contained a hateful anti-Semitic message. The advertisement includes the sentence 'CC HATES THE JEWS' in large, bold letters. According to ADVO, the company that printed the advertisement, a graphic artist working on the ad had left his desk for a moment, and a co-worker with the initials C.C. changed the text on the ad... ADVO representatives in Dallas said they are mortified by the oversight and that they are trying to figure out why the error was never caught."
