Accused serial killer feasted on dongs
Columbia Daily Tribune | Submitted by: Michael Snell
"People interviewed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol have said that Rogers has admitted to multiple murders and has surgically removed the genitals of willing subjects and unwitting victims in Columbia and elsewhere. Rogers called it 'communion' when he consumed body parts of a victim, Sgt. David Merrill, a criminal investigator with the highway patrol, wrote in a court affidavit. The document, which led Monday to a third search of Rogers' property and a travel trailer at 707 Nichols St., outlines alleged acts of genital mutilation, cannibalism and murder."

Richard Perle: Iraq invasion was illegal but necessary
Guardian | Submitted by: Aarkwilde
"International lawyers and anti-war campaigners reacted with astonishment yesterday after the influential Pentagon hawk Richard Perle conceded that the invasion of Iraq had been illegal... Mr Perle told an audience in London: 'I think in this case international law stood in the way of doing the right thing.' President George Bush has consistently argued that the war was legal either because of existing UN security council resolutions on Iraq - also the British government's publicly stated view - or as an act of self-defence permitted by international law. But Mr Perle, a key member of the defence policy board, which advises the US defence secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, said that 'international law ... would have required us to leave Saddam Hussein alone,' and this would have been morally unacceptable."

Murderer convicted thanks to crappy rap video
WLKY-TV 32 Louisville | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"A Kentucky man found guilty Wednesday of murdering his wife was convicted based in part because of a homemade rap video he made about the killing. Jurors recommended a sentence of life in prison for Dennis R. Greene, 31, of Lakeside Park, in northern Kentucky, for the May 4 death of Tara Barrett Greene, Cincinnati television station WLWT reported... Just hours after killing his wife, Greene made a rap video in an apartment in Chicago, where he'd fled and was eventually captured. The video showed Greene relaxing, smoking marijuana and admitting that he told his boss he would not be at work the next day because he was going home to fight with his wife... I really don't care about tomorrow. Hell, you try to dare me, the fucking bitch made me mad. I put it on paper, hell yeah, I'm still sad. She kept at me so I had to take her fucking life... I cut her motherfucking neck with a sword."

Woman assaulted with banana
The Advertiser (Adelaide) | Submitted by: Uncle Jerky
"A gym instructor is taking legal action after allegedly being sexually harassed at a military base in the Territory. Amanda Keeley, 26, claims she was 'felt up' and chased by a man who tried to force her to eat a banana at Larrakeyah Barracks in Darwin. The man, who is not a member of the Australian Defence Force, 'seductively peeled' the fruit in front of her and started sucking it... The man chased her around a kitchen and grabbed her from behind as he tried to force-feed her the banana." [Tips for next time: First of all, you force him to drop the banana. Then, second, you eat the banana, thus disarming him. You have now rendered him helpless.]

Priest admits Catholic Church did jack shit
WDTN-TV 2 Dayton | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"The Catholic Church has confessed it didn't tell police that people had accused priests and others of sexual abuse. Thursday afternoon, Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk pleaded no contest to charges. During a 10 minute hearing, Pilarczyk, who stood between 2 lawyers, answered a few questions from a judge but he mostly listened as the prosecutors told the judge the church failed to report sex abuse allegations."

Massachusetts clings to institutional homophobia
Boston Herald | Submitted by: Juan Motaim
"Gov. Mitt Romney is leading the charge for civil unions, which would bestow certain rights to gay couples but deny marriage licenses... In a brew of mixed messages, the governor vowed to push a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage onto the 2006 ballot, even as he works with lawmakers over the next six months to create a civil union law he claims would satisfy the Supreme Judicial Court... The governor indicated he had to hold his nose in voicing his newfound support for civil unions, saying he'd rather not provide full benefits to gays at all - but admitting there's no way around it... Gay rights advocates pointed to the landmark 1954 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that desegregated schools by striking down the 'separate but equal' doctrine."

In-car FBI surveillance squelched
The Register | Submitted by: Soylent
"An appeals court this week put the brakes on an FBI surveillance technique that turns an automobile driver's on-board vehicle navigation system into a covert eavesdropping device... The feature, designed to listen-in on car thieves as they cruise around in a stolen auto, turns on a dashboard microphone and pipes conversations out over a cellphone connection... Under federal law, the FBI can obtain court orders compelling telecommunications companies, ISPs, landlords and others to assist the Bureau in spying on customers. But the law requires that surveillance in such cases be conducted 'unobtrusively and with a minimum of interference with the services' provided by the company. With the navigation system's cellular link dedicated full time to eavesdropping, the system had no way to communicate with the company's response center if the roadside assistance or emergency reporting features were activated."

Bathroom spy arrested in Philly
Philadelphia Inquirer | Submitted by: ringo
"Jon Paul Divincenzo walked through the front doors of Spring-Ford Intermediate School in Royersford, blending in with fans there to root for the girls' basketball teams. But instead of heading to the gym, he headed to the bathroom stalls - where, during three years, authorities said, he concocted an elaborate arrangement of mirrors and homemade signs designed to spy on girls and their mothers in the restroom... Arrested Tuesday night, Divincenzo, 35, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, and stalking over a period of three years. He was unable to post the $250,000 bail, and was sent to the Montgomery County prison."

Victoria's Secret reselling worn underwear
CBS 2 New York | Submitted by: Mr. Ramon
"We bought thong underwear at two Victoria's Secret stores, and at Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomindale's... Every store took back our thongs without the tags, never asking if they'd been worn. Next our hidden camera caught the sales clerk at a Victoria's Secret attaching a new price tag on our returned thong, hanging it up and then putting it back on the floor for sale... Microbiologist Dr. Lori Daane says dangerous bacteria like yeast and E. coli can survive for weeks on lingerie and can be easily transferred. 'Given the fact that you can get these organisms on this clothing, especially thong underwear, it's pretty likely you're going to get some fecal contamination.'"

Maryland sucks at freedom of information
Annapolis Capital | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"A test of state agencies has revealed that people seeking public records have about a 60 percent chance of getting what they are legally entitled to and often face improper questioning... Many requests were met with questions, such as who wanted the information, why they wanted it and who the requester worked for. The state law bars such questions. Surveyors seeking teacher decertification records, driving records and restaurant inspection reports were among those who faced rigorous questioning from state workers."
