capitolhillblue.com | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"A federal appeals court on Thursday refused to reconsider its ruling against Vice President Cheney in his effort to keep secret the documents of his energy task force. Charles Bronson, Mexican Idol
Orange County Weekly | Submitted by: juanholmes
"Ask a group of twentysomething Mexican Americans if they grew up watching Charles Bronson movies, and heads hang low. Eventually, someone shamefully allows that, yes, his parents rented all episodes of the Death Wish series, that a family night out on the town during the mid-1980s involved watching the latest Bronson bloodbath on the big screen, and that his mother thought the helmet-coiffed actor was the handsomest screen Adonis since Ricardo Montalbán."

Verisign is evil
cbronline.com | Submitted by: Soylent
"A VeriSign spokesperson confirmed yesterday that the company is internally testing a system whereby web domain name lookups in the .com and .net domains that would normally return error messages would instead return a web page. ... Currently, VeriSign says it handles about nine billion DNS lookups per day. It is estimated that 800 million to 900 million queries result in an error message because the domain does not exist, often because the user has typed it incorrectly. ... Back-of-the-envelope calculations suggest that VeriSign could create revenue of $1m per day for itself and partners if it could convert 0.3% of its error messages into paid clicks."

Another bogus Ecstacy study
Baltimore Sun | Submitted by: Reid Fleming
"Scientists at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine have retracted a second study linking the drug Ecstasy to a certain type of brain damage -- because once again, the wrong drug was given to lab animals. ... Scientists discovered the mistake after they checked lab records to see if methamphetamine -- a variety of 'speed' -- from a mislabeled vial used in the first experiment had been used elsewhere. ... The errors came about when a chemical supply company, Research Triangle International of North Carolina, switched the labels of two vials containing methamphetamine and MDMA, the active ingredient in Ecstasy. ... Because labels on two bottles were switched, it is possible that MDMA was accidentally given to animals instead of methamphetamine in another experiment."
