"For decades, in cities from coast to coast, FBI agents recruited killers and crime bosses as informants and then looked the other way as they continued to commit violent crimes... interviews with nine former FBI agents... indicate the practice was widespread during their years of service between the late 1950s and the 1990s."

Al Qaeda planned to target Pearl Harbor
Wire Services | Submitted by: Magorn
Writes the submitter: Those who forget History are doomed to repeat it? Apparently subtlety is not al Qaeda's strong suit. It seems to me the last folks what tried this were less than happy with the ultimate result. Is it too late to get the Enola Gay out of Mothballs?

The Even Newer World Order
Guardian | Submitted by: Tobermory
"Saddam, it seems, is keen on "the wet stuff". Osama is a "stirrer" and George has his own little hobby: "Why, in our current delirium of faith and fear, would Bush want things to become more theological rather than less theological? The answer is clear enough, in human terms: to put it crudely, it makes him feel easier about being intellectually null. He wants geopolitics to be less about intellect and more about gut-instincts and beliefs - because he knows he's got them... Whatever else happens, we can infallibly expect Bush to get more religious: more theological." Much like Al Qaeda, then?

Nature's a bitter bitch
The Age | Submitted by: UberNAth
"Mrs Barber-Fankhauser and two firefighters were driving home about 6pm when they were trapped in a thunderstorm with torrential rain. A flash flood swept their 4WD off a bridge into a creek near Beveridge Station in the Upper Buckland Valley... her husband, Graeme, was coming to terms with the terrible irony that his wife had spent weeks battling the state's worst bushfires in more than 60 years but had lost her life in a flood."

Women's group sabotages snow penis
Harvard Crimson | Submitted by: UncleGum
"I think that women or men who are walking to class should not be subjected to a penis... It was a structure put up to assert male dominance... It wasn’t anyone’s private property; it was snow. Taking down a penis... is not impeding anyone’s free speech." Of course if the shoe were on the other foot, and it were a women's work of art, they'd be livid.

Toronto Star | Submitted by: Aris
"First, Mohammed was arrested in a joint raid by the CIA and Pakistani agents near Islamabad and spirited out of the country to an "undisclosed location." "The man who masterminded the September 11th attacks," was how the United States billed this latest "victory" in the "war against terror"... Then the Pakistanis announced that he hadn't been taken out of Pakistan at all. Then a Pakistani police official expressed his ignorance of any such arrest. And then, a Taliban "source"...claimed that Mohammed "is still with us and in our protection and we challenge the United States to prove their claim." The CIA at work.

"I'd say one in three conversations wound up the same way, basically that 'America is the devil.'
