Fire Fighters trying to put out different kind of fire

Woman in labour catches fire

"The woman was having a caesarean delivery in Waitakere Hospital in west Auckland last month when an electric cauterising machine ignited vapour from an alcohol-based solution, which had collected under a medical drape. Theatre staff used water to extinguish the fire, but not before the woman suffered third degree burns. Her baby was delivered safely."

Harold Eckhardt died of a heart attack July 3 at 71. But after being diagnosed with kidney cancer in 1981, he took up a project that would keep him alive for another 21 years."

"Though the collection agency's single-page lawsuit showed she owed $0.00 for the bounced check, ACS now was claiming she owed 18 cents interest because the money order arrived a day or two past the deadline. Not only that, the lawsuit said she owed $311.26 in attorney's fees and other charges... "When I saw I was being sued for 18 cents, I was outraged. Then I realized they wanted an additional $311. I said, you've got to be kidding me. At that point, I knew there was no stopping this train." She won $500 plus $7600 attorney costs.

Waisman had described Congressman Eittel Ramos' criticisms of the first lady as "cowardly."
