FBI tries to ban Pearl video
Wired | Submitted by: Soylent
The FBI has been intimidating sites into removing the Daniel Pearl video, at the behest of Dow Jones. FBI mumbled something about obscenity to the ISP in question (a ludicrous stance), but once the Wired article appeared, they backtracked and tried to claim their pressure was just "advice". It is impossible to suppress the video; in addition to dozens of web sites it has appeared on Usenet and is available on numerous decentralized P2P (peer to peer) file sharing networks. One thing for certain about the Internet: the more effort expended in suppressing the video, the more widespread it will become. [While Daily Rotten is mentioned in this story, we never posted any of the gruesome parts of the video, and nobody contacted us or has asked us to remove it. The article cycled off of this page as part of its normal rotation.]

China invents solid water
People Daily | Submitted by: george_lazenby
"Ninety-seven percent of the solid water is actual water, while the rest 3 percent is a kind of macromolecular polymer extracted from animals and plants. The solid water, which is packed in degradable paper, is not pollutive and can be placed deep in the earth together with the root of plant. With the help of microbes, the solid water is gradually dissolved to irrigate the root of plant." Has China re-invented Jello?
