Thermobaric bomb making new friends

"The BLU-118B thermobaric bomb, known as the "Big Blue Two", dropped for the first time in Afghanistan by US navy planes, is designed to kill people in caves and bunkers without collapsing the structures, writes Richard Norton Taylor. This enables search teams to enter the area to identify bodies. The 2,000lb laser-guided bombs penetrate complexes and disperse clouds of explosive particles which are detonated by a delayed-action fuse. The blast sucks up oxygen, creating a blast which collapses lungs, breaks eardrums, and pulls out eyes."

Pantsless judge ejected from restaurant

Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge H. Patrick McFalls Jr. was ejected from a restaurant on Valentine's Day after engaging in what customers described as noisy and sometimes bizarre conversation and removing his pants... McFalls, 58, who previously has said he has not had an alcoholic drink since 1995, declined last night to discuss whether he has been drinking, saying it is the subject of a confidential psychologist's examination ordered by the courts as part of an evaluation of his fitness."

Town celebrates frozen dead guy

"The Nederland Chamber of Commerce is planning a weekend celebration dubbed "Frozen Dead Guy Days" to showcase its famed cryogenically frozen resident. The town of Nederland passed an ordinance outlawing the keeping of corpses on private property. But since a government can not make a current situation illegal, "Grandpa Bredo" was grandfathered in. Now the town has come full-circle, naming a festival after the man."

Uganda has no homosexuals

After accepting an award for his government's successful campaign against AIDS, "Uganda's president declared Sunday that his country has no homosexuals, one of the groups most threatened by the global epidemic. The comment by President Yoweri Museveni follows a report by a human rights group that accused Uganda and other countries of torturing and mistreating their homosexual populations."
